Finite element analysis of masonry under a plane stress state

In this paper, a material model for masonry under plane stress state and subjected to quasi-static monotonous loading is presented along with the implementation of in nonlinear finite element method. Using macro modelling, consisting bricks joints assumed. Taking into account compatibility equilibrium conditions, constitutive laws are formulated, which describe anisotropic properties based on consistent mechanical correlations. By introducing an additional local model, influences due discontinuities can be taken continuum-mechanics approach. The developed presented, numerical within NLFE method illustrated, analyses load–deformation behaviour experimentally investigated shear walls various combinations kinematic, static, geometric boundary conditions carried out.
